Jeremy Martin is Excited for the 2022 Daytona Supercross by MotocrossActionMag.com

3/1/2022

Millville, Minnesota’ Jeremy Martin has 250 motocross results that speak for themselves. With two 250 National Championships, and two 250 outdoor national runner-up finishes, he is a threat every time he lines up. While his Supercross results have not quite matched his motocross results; he is still a Championship contender. Signed with the powerful Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha squad for 2021, Martin was a preseason favorite until a crash at the opening round in Orlando sidelined him. Now 28 years old, Martin is once again a contender. While his younger competitors (Jett Lawrence and Cameron McAdoo) have taken the race wins, Jeremy has used consistency to remain in the Championship hunt after two Rounds. Now third in points, Jeremy is looking forward to Daytona where the Supercross/motocross hybrid track suits his style well.

JEREMY, LET’ BEGIN WITH THE TRIPLE CROWN IN ARLINGTON, WHAT IS YOUR TAKEAWAY? As you could tell the racing was wild, with lots happening on the track. Overall, the racing is generally crazy in the 250 class, but the Triple Crown makes it even more so. With three Main Events, the track also breaks down more than a normal Supercross.

IN THE MINNEAPOLIS SERIES OPENER, YOU FINISHED FOURTH. TALK ABOUT ROUND ONE. I left there here healthy, and felt I was riding better as the day progressed. After riding the track on media day, I was a bit concerned how the track was looking, but it felt better Saturday night. I did make some mistakes during the main and am somewhat disappointed with that. But I left there in a much better spot than last year, and I’m looking forward to Daytona this upcoming weekend.

THIS OPENER HAS TO BE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR’S OPENER FOR YOU. Yes, last year, I made it to the Main, made it to the first turn and it was game over, so a big thing for me this year was lets get through the first round, then get better and better every weekend and we will keep plugging away.

WOULD YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF ONE OF THE TITLE FAVORITES? Absolutely. But, let’ s be honest, trying to win these things is no walk in the park. You put in all this work and preparation and stuff like that, and one small mistake can change everything. You just must stay on it, stay focused and focus on yourself. The biggest thing is, you are trying to get the track down and trying to stay comfortable and ride like you do during the week and put yourself in good situations and that is all I can do. I can only control what I can control. The rest is the rest.

DO YOU FEEL YOUR RIDING IS WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE? I feel that I am riding okay; not bad, but also not where I want to be. I’m riding great back in Florida at the test track, but I need to do a better job of bringing that intensity to the weekend.

IS IT SAFE TO SAY THAT THE EAST REGION YOUR IS MORE STACKED THAN THE WEST COAST? Yes and no. People talk about that every year, but I don’t really look at it that w ay. You are just trying to get better. Obviously, the West Coast is really stacked but some guys got hurt and that is the nature of the beast. Now, some East Coast riders may be hurt. Also, there is some fresh blood out here now, so we will see what we can do this year here on the East. Hopefully it is good entertainment for everybody.

THE DAYTONA SUPERCROSS IS COMING UP NEXT, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT DAYTONA? Oh, I’m very excited and looking forward to it I’m pumped it is this early in the season. Everyone knows motocross is what I really enjoy. Daytona is part Supercross and part Motocross, and I love Motocross. I cannot wait!
